This course is designed to teach students components of sports medicine. Units of study include: exploration of therapeutic careers, medical terminology, anatomy of the head and brain; bones, muscles, and joints of the upper and lower extremities; common sports injuries, injury assessment, first aid, injury prevention principles, and rehabilitation techniques. This course follows curriculum outlined by Weber State University. Prerequisites: 11th/12th grade - C or better in Biology OR 10th grade Honors Biology

This course is designed to teach students components of exercise science and builds upon information learned in Sports Medicine I. Units of study include: medical terminology review, exercise/injury and the healing process, performance enhancement, anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems as relates to exercise, examination of cardiovascular training methods, examination of muscle types and strength-training exercises, sports nutrition, performance enhancement studies, and sports psychology. This course continues to follow curriculum as outlined by Weber State University. Prerequisite: Received credit for Sports Medicine I.
